Documentary Style Wedding Photos For Vintage Lovers
When Alexandria from Everlasting Events reached out to me with the idea, I was thrilled. We both loved whimsical florals and definitely wanted to incorporate candles into the mix. From there, we came up with the concept together and booked all of the other talented vendors to bring our vision to life. We wanted this to reflect a candlelit intimate wedding in the city with a mix of both modern and vintage elements.
To start off, I really tapped into my creative mind when it came to flatlays. There were so many gorgeous props to work with, and the possibilities were endless. Capturing the details and tablescape was only just the beginning of the day.

While the lighting was still good, I took the couple out on the rooftop to capture them with the city in the background. I loved the movement shots with her veil blowing—those are always my favorite to capture. I also loved the photos of them posing on the couch, which is really where we started to get into the more editorial posing. We even played around with some props for this as well.

We moved on to the bar where I prompted them to make a drink and share it together. These photos are perfect for couples who maybe want some private photos resembling their cocktail hour at their wedding. Then it was time to move into the main room, where we had the most stunning florals hanging from the balcony and a beautifully decorated table with more florals, candles, fresh fruits, and yummy desserts. I captured so many sweet moments between them—sharing kisses, him kissing her hand, her gorgeous veil draped perfectly on the floor. I really loved incorporating the balcony and the stairs into the photos. We got a lot of editorial moments from that but also documentary style as well, with tons of in-the-moment photos including their cake cutting!
