Kerry and Jay’s beach wedding celebration at The Breakers Spring Lake was a beautiful continuation of their marriage. Last year, I got to capture their courthouse elopement, and now I’m so excited to share their beach celebration with all of you! Between Jay’s morning surf session, the steel drummer at cocktail hour, and their sunset dance in the ocean with their beautiful son – this day was perfectly them. Keep reading to see how it all unfolded.
A Beautiful Beach Wedding in Spring Lake, NJ
Getting Ready at The Breakers Spring Lake (+ Morning Surf!)
The morning started at The Breakers Spring Lake – which doubles as both venue and hotel (if you’re hunting for beach wedding venues in NJ, definitely add this one to your list!). I loved that everyone could stay and get ready right there. The day began with Jay catching some morning waves while Kerry got ready with her girlfriends, mom, Mother-in-law, and their son. When Jay returned, he helped Kerry into her wedding dress, and the bride and groom finished getting ready together before heading out for their beach bridal portraits. Everything was so sweet and relaxed – just full of love and good vibes.

Beach Bridal Portraits in the Midday Sun
After getting ready, we headed straight to the beach across from Breakers for bridal beach portraits in the full sun. It was seriously the perfect day – not a cloud in sight, and the best ocean breeze that made Kerry’s dress blow in the wind.

Beach Vibes, Boho Dress & Flip Flops
Kerry and Jay nailed their beachy wedding vibe! Her boho dress with floral details paired perfectly with his light suit and fedora – and I absolutely loved that they all rocked flip flops all day (even their little one!). The whole celebration had this gorgeous palette of beach-inspired greens and neutrals. They went all in on the coastal theme with not one, but two surf boards – one for the seating chart and another for guests to sign. The steel drummer during cocktail hour was just the perfect touch that had everyone feeling those beach paradise vibes!

Reception Fun: From Steel Drums to Pretzel Bars
Since Kerry & Jay had already said their vows at their courthouse elopement last year, this day was all about celebrating their love and having an amazing time! The reception was a blast from start to finish – from their sweet entrance and first dance to all the little moments in between. I captured so many documentary-style photos throughout the night: Jay taking shots with friends, sweet moments with their son, and everyone just soaking in the celebration. The pretzel bar at the end of the night was such a fun touch – I always love seeing unique details like that!

Sunset Moonlight Family Portraits
To end the night, Kerry, Jay, and their son headed back to the beach for sunset photos. The sky was this beautiful ombre of blue and yellow, with seagulls flying everywhere! Their smiles were contagious as they played together on the beach – the vibes were totally electric. Kerry even went into the ocean in her wedding dress with their son, which was the sweetest way to end such an amazing celebration!

I absolutely loved being part of Kerry and Jay’s wedding story – from their courthouse elopement last year to this amazing beach wedding! Their day at The Breakers Spring Lake is exactly why I tell my couples there’s no rulebook for how to celebrate your marriage.
These two made their wedding day completely their own. Jay started the morning catching waves (how cool is that?), we got the most incredible beach portraits, and ended with the sweetest sunset family photos.
Whether you’re thinking about an elopement, a big celebration later on, or both like Kerry and Jay did – I’m here for it all! Their 8-hour timeline gave us plenty of time to capture everything that mattered to them, from getting ready through sunset.
