Blue Hour at Island Beach State Park
I’ve shot many sessions during blue hour – but this one was simply perfect. They both really wanted to incorporate the moon into their shoot, so blue hour was definitely the way to go. They both also love the beach, and wanted their engagement photos to feel both romantic and cinematic.
At the beginning, they popped champagne and toasted with a cute mirror that read their “save the date” – a personal touch that I thought was super cute and creative. After they were warmed up, we began with tons of movement: running, laughing, hugging – all those candid moments that really make you feel like you’re seeing snippets of a movie. I had them up on one of the sand dunes where you could see the crescent moon in the background. It was absolutely breathtaking.
We ended the night with a bonfire – they snuggled up under a blanket with a cute candle lantern. I love playing with ambient light, and this setting was perfect for it. Ryan was super involved and got so excited for this portion of the session. I captured photos of them just enjoying each other’s company and, of course, sharing a few sweet kisses. They were just so sweet and happy to be there.
