I had the best time capturing these gender reveal photos with Palak & Tariq. They came to me wanting a personal and private gender reveal followed by a cozy and intimate maternity session. Private Gender Reveal Photoshoot Ideas
To begin their at-home maternity session, we kicked things off with the sweetest gender reveal. The couple shared a mini white cake with “Oh baby” written on top, and used wine glasses to cut into it together. When they saw the blue filling, their smiles were absolutely priceless – you could just feel their joy and excitement in the room!
One of my favorite things to ask a couple before their gender reveal is their prediction as to whether they will see pink or blue. I always go with what mom predicts and almost invariably, she is correct. In this case, that was exactly what happened – mama’s connection to her little boy was so strong!
The Best Maternity Shoot Poses
Something couples worry about is looking natural on camera – that’s where documentary-style photography shines. While I don’t put couples in super rigid poses, I guide them through scenarios and movement-based prompts that let their personalities and natural affection shine through. When they shared that Tariq had played the piano for Palak at other significant times in their lives, I knew I had to make that a part of this session. I captured them doing all sorts of activities together – Palak adoringly watching Tariq play the piano for her, them taking pictures of each other, reading to their baby in the nursery. Every moment was unique and allowed them to truly be themselves. I especially loved Palak’s solo shots – she had such amazing chemistry with the camera and exuded so much confidence, something I love seeing in my soon-to-be-mamas.
