This studio maternity photo shoot with Ashle and Jon will forever be one of my favorites. Not only are they a stunning couple, but they were an absolute joy to work with. After finding my work through an Instagram follower’s recommendation, they were instantly drawn to my signature style of playing with light and shadows. Ashle had a specific artistic vision in mind for their studio maternity photos, which made this session extra special. Keep reading to see how their moody studio session came to life!
A Moody B&W Maternity Session
Ashle had such a clear vision for these photos, and I was determined to bring it to life perfectly! Her artistic direction pushed me to think outside the box, focusing on the interplay of light and shadows using the studio’s gorgeous natural light. They chose LD Studio specifically for its stunning windows and lighting potential, plus we had access to black backdrops that created the dramatic effects Ashle was dreaming of. When she mentioned her love for black and white photography (which happens to be my passion too!), I knew this session would be something special.
Throughout their studio maternity photo shoot, we played with multiple wardrobe changes, each one more stunning than the last. The couple stuck to a sophisticated neutral palette, mainly featuring black and white tones. While some outfits were more covered and others showed more skin, each look beautifully highlighted Ashle’s baby bump in its own way. One of my favorite moments was when Ashle wore a black bodysuit – the way she embraced the poses and absolutely glowed with confidence was incredible. She looked and felt as beautiful as every mama-to-be deserves to feel!

I was so excited when Jon jumped in for some photos! He kept it simple in a black shirt and jeans at first, but my favorite shots came at the end of our session. Jon took his shirt off while Ashle changed into this gorgeous skirt and crop top combo that showed off her belly perfectly. They looked absolutely incredible together – just one of those couples that makes my job as a photographer feel effortless!
