Blue Hour Beach Engagement Photos
My favorite time to shoot at the beach is during blue hour. We began during sunset golden hour but wanted the main event to be blue hour, and it was absolutely stunning. We had the whole beach to ourselves which made it incredibly romantic, and I knew the sky would deliver for the exact vibes they were going for. Since they’re getting married here and even had a beach proposal, every significant milestone in their journey has taken place on the beach – keeping that element for their engagement photos was important to them.
They both wore neutral colors to start – she had a cream dress and plaid jacket, and he matched with his jacket with a plaid hood. Later on she changed into a cream off-the-shoulder sweater. The props we incorporated weren’t just for show – their champagne toast and warm blanket not only protected them from the elements but allowed me to use movement-based prompts of them snuggling together. This naturally showcased their connection while keeping them warm through the freezing temperatures.
My goal as a photographer is to make couples feel comfortable during their session. I pride myself on flexibility – no matter what challenges arise, I’m always finding creative solutions! Having my associate photographer Ally (Allison Nicole Photo) there was fantastic. She even caught me in action trying to get the perfect angle! Her presence added so much to the shoot, capturing beautiful complementary perspectives that rounded out their gallery perfectly.

These two braved the cold temps because the beach means everything to their story – from where he proposed to where they’ll say “I do.”
