These beach engagement photos with Amy and Joe were so much fun! I love couples who are completely comfortable to showcase their love uninhibitedly, and these two did exactly that. Their natural chemistry was obvious from the start. They are such an easygoing pair and their personalities really shined through their photos.
Let me tell you the sweetest story about how these two met – they were both 16 when they were initially introduced through mutual friends, but it wasn’t until years later that their paths crossed again and they fell in love. Intimate Jersey Shore Engagement Photos in Asbury, NJ
They decided to take their engagement photos at Joe’s family home by the shore. I knew right off the bat that this would be an amazing shoot – his home was right on the bay, with a beautiful boat and classic car that we were going to feature during their session. Having their photos taken here was sentimental because of all the memories made there. I am all for going places where couples feel the most nostalgic!
The session flowed perfectly with the sunset. We started just before the sun went down – when it was still bright and in your eyes, but made for some really great lighting in the vintage car photos. Then we transitioned to golden hour for the boat ride, and my favorite – blue hour for the photos on the beach.
Outfit Inspiration For Your Engagement Photos
A fun part of all my sessions as an engagement photographer is seeing all of the different and unique outfits the couples wear. For Amy & Joe, they started the session with very dressy outfits. Amy wore this gorgeous little white dress with a bow in the back, paired with pearl strap heels that pulled everything together. Joe complimented her perfectly in a classic white button-up with black pants and shoes.
For the more relaxed part of the session, they both changed into outfits that were comfortable yet classy. They kicked off their shoes, with Joe switching dress pants for khakis and keeping his crisp white shirt, and Amy changing into a gorgeous silky dress with bows on the shoulders. Their outfit choices perfectly matched the vibe we were going for – allowing for lots of movement, fun, and getting those documentary shots in the ocean and sand.
A Sunset Boat Ride On The Bay
I love it when couples add personal touches to their sessions. Taking the boat ride with Amy and Joe was so much fun – I got to see them totally in their element! They rocked these black sunglasses and popped a bottle of champagne while cruising on the bay. These casual moments on the water created some of my favorite shots from their session, especially with that perfect golden hour lighting reflecting off the water.
